Professional Bio - Karen Braunstein-Post

Karen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Santa Clara University, California. She has been teaching in the Computer Science program since 1984 when she taught COBOL programming and mainframe JCL. She has since taught courses in Networking, “C” Language, Fortran, Pascal, Assembly Language, Visual Basic, HTML, JavaScript, XML, Systems Analysis, Human Relations, IT Research/Writing and Structured Query Language. Most recently, she is teaching courses in programming and development using the Microsoft .NET languages and technologies.

In 1996, Karen co-authored a Visual Basic programming textbook with Mr. Ron Gilster.

Karen was the Program Architect of the Web Application Developer On-Line program for the National Center for Emerging Technologies, 2001. She designed and developed on-line teacher training courses for Washington On-line and the Washington Skills Standards Project in 2001 and 2002.

Karen has served as chairperson on several instructional tenure committees at Renton Technical College. She is the designer and developer of the Windows and web-based versions of the “CBE Automated Desktop” software used at the College and is a technical specialist in competency-based education.

Karen was awarded the Puget Power/RTC Outstanding Faculty award for 1998.

Karen holds a Private Pilot’s license, is a certified scuba diver and enjoys running and walking for exercise. She is most proud of being the mother of two great daughters and wife to a wonderful husband.
