Education and Experience

I have a Professional Engineers License in Electrical Engineering from the State of Washington.

I have taught at Renton Technical College full-time, since 2000. Prior to that, I taught part time, in two different programs (Electronics Technology and Information Technology-Programming) at Renton Technical College and for the Boeing Company in house training.

From 1979 – 1999 I worked for the Boeing Company as an Electronics Technician, Fortran programmer, Visual Basic programmer, Web page developer and an Electrical Engineer. I was part of the IUS (Inertial Upper Stage) program at the Kent Space Center, the Peacekeeper Missile program and the 777 Airplane program as well as many others.

From 1972 – 1978 I worked for the US Navy as an Electronics Technician and A Nuclear Reactor Operator. I was on the commissioning crew of the USS Nimitz CVN-68.

Here at Renton Technical College I teach in the Computer Science Program in the areas of Office Applications, Database Programming, Visual Basic programming, Computer Mathematics, Networking, Computer Hardware, Computer Graphics and Animation.

Hobbies/Personal Info

I have been involved in a wide range of interests over the years. Currently I’m active in the area of Combat Robotics (Battlebots/Robot Wars/Robotica) and appeared in the Robotica Season 2 TV series. I’m a member of the Seattle Robotics Society that meets here at RTC and build autonomous robots. I’m a proponent of PIC Microprocessors and enjoy assembly language programming of these devices.

I have been a semi-professional magician, play the guitar and harmonica a little and have flown radio-controlled helicopters. I’m also a certified genius and I'm a member of the Mensa organization, the society of geniuses!
