I have pages of awards that I have won. In everything I do, from hobbies, to school, to my professional endeavors, I always strive for excellence.
Major Projects
As a Consultant, I have had full responsibility for several production databases in the Seattle area including some that I developed , and some that I inherited. These track everything from Construction Projects to Medical Surveys to Thoroughbred Race Horses in Kentucky.
While still employed at U.S. Customs I developed several databases to support the tracking and intercepting of drug smugglers. The earliest was in Honolulu in about 1988, and was developed in FoxPro. This analytical database tracked the offshore fueling of ships near Hawaii and ranked their relative risk of being a smuggling vessel based on a risk-ranking comparison. It closed a major loophole that had been exploited by smugglers prior to that.
I also developed some reference databases in MS Access which are still in wide use throughout Customs Intelligence Analysis Units in international airports all over the U.S., Canada. Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
I also was involved in two major International Projects
1997: As half of a two man team, I developed an Access front end for the Royal Saudi Customs Service Trade Statistics Database (this was a client-server model with Oracle as the back end).
1996: I designed an Access Database for the Royal Cambodian Customs Service to track drug smuggling suspects and wanted fugitives.
Community Service
Rainier Beach Community Center (2001 - present)
Volunteer Advisor
Along with some of my students, I volunteer one weekend per month at the Rainier Beach Community Center, upgrading and fixing computers for underprivileged families in the area. This is a cooperative project between the Rainier Beach Community Center and Renton Technical College.
Boy Scouts of America- Chief Seattle Council (1993 - 1998)
Explorer Advisor
I assisted by providing training at Regional Explorer Academies, and as an advisor for local Post 497, where my activities included training, fund-raising, newsletter publishing and on the job mentoring.
Bellevue Rotary Club (1993-1998)
International Youth Exchange Program
I assisted in briefing youth exchange participants and their parents, and answering questions to prepare them for their participation in the International Youth Exchange Program.
I also have donated time to speak in the public schools in the Seattle area about drugs, and about law enforcement as a career.
Last, but certainly not least, I have donated my time and equipment and have built or upgraded the computer systems in two different churches and one elementary school.
